Pinter fans can catch a double dose of the Nobel Prize-winning playwright on More 4 on Monday night (26 February 2007). Pinter’s one act play Celebration, directed by John Crowley (The Pillowman, Love Song) and featuring a starry cast including James Bolam, Janie Dee, Colin Firth, James Fox, Michael Gambon, Julia McKenzie, Sophie Okonedo, Stephen Rea and Penelope Wilton, will be broadcast at 9pm. The play, which is set in an upmarket West End restaurant where couples who are not in the party spirit are having dinner, received its world premiere at the Almeida Theatre in 2002 as part of a double bill with The Room, Pinter’s first play. The More 4 broadcast, produced by Michael Colgan and Alan Moloney, marks its TV debut. It will be screened ahead of Working with Pinter at 9.45pm, an intimate master-class with Pinter in which, as previously tipped (See The Goss, 13 Feb 2007), the playwright debates the merit of his own trademark pauses.
