In our latest Whatsonstage.com Radio can programme, Kevin Spacey and the boys from Billy Elliot gave Roger Foss exclusive interviews after their multi award-winning day last week when Kevin Spacey picked up ourTheatregoers' Choice Award for Best Actor in a Play for Richard II shortly after winning Best Shakespearean Performance at the Critics’ Circle Awards that same day (See News, 31 Jan 2006). Spacey's Richard II also won the Old Vic the accolade for Best Shakespearean Production from theatregoers.

In addition to George Maguire, James Lomas and Liam Mower collectively winning London Newcomer of the Year, Billy Elliot picked up Theatregoers' Choice Awards for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical (Ann Emery), Best Choreographer (Peter Darling) and, the big one, Best New Musical. Earlier, the boys were on hand with director Stephen Daldry and book writer and lyricist Lee Hall to accept that day’s Critics’ Circle Award for Best Musical.
