In advance of its production of Romeo and Juliet, which opens in Stratford next month, the Royal Shakespeare Company is launching a fantasy casting poll to find out who the public views as an ideal pairing for Shakespeare’s famous young lovers. There are no restrictions as to who voters can choose – be they TV presenters, sports stars, politicians or other celebrities, not to mention of course, actors. Appropriately enough, voting opens on Valentine’s Day with the results announced on Shakespeare’s birthday, 23 April 2004 (also St George’s Day). All voters will also be entered into a prize draw to win a trip for two to Verona. For further information, visit the RSC website.
