Buddy fans can rest a little easier. While the musical, based on the life and greatest hits of rock 'n' roll star Buddy Holly who died in a plane crash at the age of 21, will indeed finish its phenomenal run in the West End next month, it certainly won't be the last we'll see or hear of this popular production. A UK tour, talked about for sometime in early 2003, may be launching as soon as this summer. Scripted by Alan Janes and directed by Rob Bettinson, Buddy premiered at the Victoria Palace on 12 October 1989, before transferring to the Strand Theatre where it re-opened on 6 October 1995. It closes at the Strand on 3 March 2002, after a West End run of nearly 12 and a half years.
