Samantha Spiro & Bette Bourne join Millson’s Macbeth at Globe

Samantha Spiro will play Lady Macbeth opposite Joseph Millson‘s Macbeth at the Globe this summer. Spiro, a double Olivier Award-winner, will be joined in the cast by celebrated cabaret artist Bette Bourne as the Porter.

As previously announced, the production is directed by award-winning actress Eve Best, making her directorial debut, and runs between 22 June and 29 September 2013.

Spiro played Katherina in the Globe’s 2012
production of The Taming of the Shrew. Her other recent stage credits
include Filumena (Almeida), Chicken Soup with Barley (Royal Court), her
Olivier Award-winning performance in Hello Dolly (Regent’s Park),
Twelfth Night and Merrily We Roll Along, for which she earned her first
Olivier win (Donmar/West End).

Bette Bourne previously appeared at the Globe in 2004 as the Nurse in
Romeo and Juliet. His varied career includes performing as Quentin Crisp
in Resident Alien at the Bush and on tour, as himself in the
biographical A Life in Three Acts (Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh) and in
The Vortex at the Donmar Warehouse, for which he won a Clarence Derwent
Award.

Macbeth will be designed by Mike Britten and composed by Olly Fox.
