War Horse charges on – show extends to Feb 2014, new cast announced

War Horse has extended its booking period to 15 February 2014 at the New London Theatre, having released over 100,000 new tickets for sale.

The National Theatre’s multi award-winning production has also announced new cast members, taking over from 9 March 2013.

The new West End cast will feature: Gareth Aled, Nigel Allen, Antony Antunes, Derek Arnold, Alex Avery, Oliver Beamish, Richard Booth, Alistair Brammer, Ashleigh Cheadle, Eke Chukwu, Darren Cockrill, Ewen Cummins, Tamsin Fessey, Nicholas Hart, Paul Hawkyard, Tom Hodgkins, Jamie Kenna, Pieter Lawman, Andrew London, Brian Lonsdale, Josh McCord, Dogan Mehmet, Tom Meredith, Ben Murray, Steve North, Lewis Peploe, Sergio Priftis, William Rycroft, Jack Sandle, Ian Shaw, Michael Taibi, Zoe Thorne, Emma Thornett, Josie Walker, Brendan Wall, Sam Wilmott and Sion Daniel Young as Albert.

Now seen by over three million people worldwide, the play tells the story of Albert and his beloved horse, who, at the outbreak of World War One, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France.

War Horse, which is adapted from Michael Morpurgo’s novel, premiered at the NT Olivier in October
2007, returning for a second run the following year and transferring to
the West End’s New London theatre in April 2009.

It’s directed by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, designed by Rae Smith, with puppet direction, design and fabrication by Basil Jones and Adrian Kohler for Handspring Puppet Company, lighting by Paule Constable, and movement and horse choreography by Toby Sedgwick.

As previously reported, a national tour kicks off at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth in September.
