However speaking to The Stage producer Edward Snape said the production could return to the West End "at some point after the summer."
News of the show's departure came as Snape confirmed that the production - which transferred to the Gielgud Theatre on 7 December (previews from 26 November 2011) following a try-out run at Liverpool Playhouse - had recouped its £750,000 capitalisation six weeks after opening.
The classic Ealing comedy, which stars Peter Capaldi, James Fleet, Ben Miller, Marcia Warren, Stephen Wight and Clive Rowe, has extended its West End run once but will now close on 14 April 2012 having played 11 weeks.
Directed by Sean Foley, The Ladykillers, was adapted from the 1955 Ealing comedy by Graham Linehan. His television credits include Father Ted, The IT Crowd, Brass Eye, Blue Jam and Jam as well as co-writing the first season of Black Books with Dylan Moran.
The Ladykillers is presented by Edward Snape for Fiery Angel in association with Stage Entertainment UK and Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse and is the first co-production from new production company Fiery Dragons.
