Photos: 2011 ‘Get Into London Theatre’ Launched

The tenth annual Get into London Theatre (GILT) campaign, six weeks of cheap ticket deals and activities to attract audiences to musicals, plays, opera and dance, was launched yesterday (4 January 2011) with an afternoon of “theatrical fun” at the Royal Festival Hall.

Featuring performances and workshops from Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia!, Stomp, Legally Blonde, Potted Panto Priscilla Queen of the Desert, the afternoon was hosted by former Avenue Q star Daniel Boys.

Amongst those attending the event were Priscilla stars Ray Meagher and Ben Richards, Wicked‘s Louise Dearman and Legally Blonde‘s Alex Gaumond and End of the Rainbow runner-up Jessica Robinson.

Get into London Theatre, which runs until 18 February 2011, was created by London mayor Ken Livingstone in 2001 in response to the dwindling number of theatregoers following the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The scheme is now organised by industry body the Society of London Theatre (SOLT).

Tickets priced from as little as £10 are available for a wide choice of performances and, for the first time ever, exclusive Get Into London Theatre show and activity packages, enabling audience members to take part in special workshops or meet the talent behind London’s biggest productions.
