Atherton, Boys & Streisand Concerts at Trafalgar

Former Avenue Q co-stars Julie Atherton and Daniel Boys will present solo concerts alongside Lisa Faye following performances of Adam Gwon‘s musical Ordinary Days when it opens at Trafalgar Studios 2 next month.

The concerts, which follow the 7.45pm performances of Ordinary Days and start at 9.45pm, will see Atherton perform on Wednesdays 9, 16 and 23 February and 2 March and Boys perform on Fridays 11, 18 and 25 February and 4 March. Lisa Faye presents Streisand: The Main Event on Saturdays 19 and 26 February 2011.

Having competed in the BBC’s search to find Joseph, Any Dream Will Do, Boys’ West End credits include Avenue Q, Wolfboy and Rent. Julie Atherton has appeared alongside Boys in Avenue Q before taking roles in Last Five Years, Notes From New York, Fame and Mamma Mia!.

Both Atherton and Boys’ concerts promise to showcase the “versatility” of the performers with a programme made up of fresh takes on classics as well as “exhilarating” new work. Streisand: The Main Event celebrates Barbra Streisand’s vast career, taking theatregoers on a musical journey. The two night concerts follow Faye’s successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe last year.

Ordinary Days which runs from 10 February to 5 March 2011 (previews from 8 February), was first seen at the Finborough Theatre in 2008, when it marked the show’s European premiere. The musical – about “growing up and enjoying the view” – explores how the ordinary lives of four New Yorkers are turned into something extraordinary by the catalyst of one seemingly small event.

The show is directed by Adam Lenson, will also feature Alexia Khadime and Lee William-Davis who, like Atherton, was a member in the cast of the original run at the Finborough.

New Yorker Adam Gwon is a multi-award winning composer/lyricist with a growing reputation. His other musicals include Bernice Bobs Her Hair, Lulu and Some Place Like Home.
