Chicago‘s Henshall Going Solo in 2010???

Ruthie Henshall fans will be pleased to hear of her recent revelation to Whatsonstage.com that she’s planning a solo show later in the year.

Henshall was speaking to Whatsonstage.com about her recent return to the role of murderess Roxie Hart in the West End revival of Chicago, for which she was Olivier nominated when the production first opened in 1997 (See News, 3 Dec 2009).

Addressing the issue of her future plans, she said: “I’ve got a few concerts going on and I have lots of television ideas actually, lots of irons in the fire. I’m also putting together a one-woman show. It will be a concert-style show with something more; not just standing around singing number after number. That’s hopefully for this autumn in London.”

The Olivier Award-winning actress, whose many other West End credits include Les Miserables, Oliver!, Cats, Miss Saigon, The Woman in White and Marguerite, also didn’t rule out a future return to Chicago, in which she has played the roles of both Roxie and Velma. “Do you know, as long as this show is still running, it will always be a temptation” she said. “This my fourth time doing it, so maybe this should be it, but who knows? Never say never.”

Ruthie Henshall continues in Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre until 28 February 2010.
