Rob Brydon Brings Stand-up Show to Apollo, 11 May

Rob Brydon (pictured) is the latest comedian to bring his stand-up show to the West End. The Welsh comic has announced he will conclude his current tour Rob Brydon Live! with a two-week run at the Apollo theatre, from 11 to 23 May 2009.

Brydon follows in the footsteps of fellow comedians Bill Bailey and Eddie Izzard, who have both enjoyed recent stints on Shaftesbury Avenue. Izzard’s live show Stripped, recently nominated for a Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice award, was at the Lyric theatre from 17 November to 12 December 2008, while Bill Bailey’s Tinselworm recently extended at the Gielgud to 24 January.

Rob Brydon rose to fame playing cab driver Keith Barret in BBC comedy series Marion and Geoff and its spin-off The Keith Barret Show. He has subsequently appeared in series including Annually Retentive and the recent Gavin and Stacey. His current live tour kicked off in November and will have visited over 50 locations around the UK by the time it reaches London.

Currently at the Apollo, Lisa Kron’s Well finishes on 24 January, and is followed by the revival of Richard Greenberg’s Three Days of Rain which runs from 10 February to 9 May (previews from 30 January) starring James McAvoy and Nigel Harman (See News, 24 Oct 2008).
