Lancashire Says Adios to Adelaide???

By • West End
It seems increasingly likely that Sarah Lancashire may not return to her role as Miss Adelaide in Michael Grandage’s revival of Frank Loesser musical Guys and Dolls, as the actress is still off - apparently with a chest infection - after only appearing in the show for one month. An article in last night’s Evening Standard compared Lancashire’s absence to that of Martine McCutcheon, who missed more than half her scheduled performances in My Fair Lady (See News, 23 Mar 2001). Lancashire’s last performance in the hit musical at the West End’s Piccadilly Theatre was on Wednesday 4 January 2006 (See The Goss, 13 Jan 2006). However, the show’s producers say they are expecting her to return to the production. A spokesperson told “She’s still got this awful chest infection, but we are hoping she’ll come back as soon as she’s better.”
