American Brad Oscar may have just taken over this week, but fans of Conleth Hill may still be able to look forward to the chameleon-like Irishman’s version of unscrupulous showman Max Bialystock. At the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Hill is currently playing flamboyant director Roger Debris in Mel Brooks’ hit musical comedy, The Producers, for which he’s been nominated for one of this year’s Whatsonstage.com Theatregoers’ Choice Awards(click here to vote now). In this week’s 20 Questions interview, Hill admits that the casting idea appeals to him: “Of course, yeah, I’d enjoy playing Max, it’s a great part. And I like the fact that it’s being talked about, I’m flattered that people would think of me. Wouldn’t it be great if I could just say, ‘yeah, I haven’t told the producers yet, but I’m doing it’? But it’s not in my hands, and it’s not something I lose sleep over or worry about or am concerned about. As it is, I’m really happy doing Roger.”
