Weisz Shapes Up for Stage-to-Screen Crossover???

By • West End
British actress Rachel Weisz looks set to repeat her huge stage success in Neil Labute's The Shape of Things on the big screen. The play, about four American college students involved in an unconventional art project, premiered at the Almeida in May 2001 and had an extended two weeks at the London theatre before transferring to New York's Off-Broadway Promenade Theater last September. Now Labute, who has also scripted and directed films such as Nurse Betty and In the Company of Men, has announced his intentions to film The Shape of Things. Weisz - along with her American co-stars Paul Rudd, Gretchen Mol and Frederick Weller - are expected to recreate their stage roles in the screen adaptation. Weisz's other credits include: on stage, Design for Living and Suddenly Last Summer; and on film, The Mummy, Enemy at the Gates, Stealing Beauty and Land Girls. The Shape of Things has been nominated for four Whatsonstage.com Awards, including Best Actress for Weisz (click here to vote).
