Producers are likening it to a meeting of the Reduced Shakespeare Company and the world of musical theatre. A comedy revue called Zipadeedooda!, devised by Giles Brandreth and Stewart Nicholls, promises to incorporate 100 of the greatest musical hits and flops into a mere 100-minute performance. An early version of the show was seen last summer at Wimbledon Studio Theatre, but a full-fledged production, directed by Steven Dexter, is now in development. The plan is to premiere the piece in Westcliff later this year, and then to visit Cambridge and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. If all goes to plan, a UK tour and West End transfer will follow. Casting is currently taking place. The performers will have to be adept at speed singing in the tight race against time, which includes a summation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's output into a mere 90-second number.
