More cuts ahead? Arts Council's funding strategy explained

Alan Davey and Peter Bazalgette explain the Arts Council’s funding changes and what they mean

As the prospect of more funding cuts looms in the new year for theatre companies and other arts organisations across the country, Arts Council England (ACE) has updated its ten-year strategic plan. First published in 2010, the 'Great art and culture for everyone' plan outlined five goals that all of its regularly funded bodies (known as National Portfolio Organisations) would have to meet to warrant government subsidy. The refreshed framework aims to be clearer about “what success looks like, and how Arts Council England will know whether it’s achieving its mission”. In this video, Arts Council chief executive Alan Davey and Peter Bazalgette explain the changes and what they mean.
