  • Even more Dreamboats….After proving an unexpected success at the Savoy, Dreamboats and Petticoats the compilation musical featuring classic numbers by Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury, Chuck Berry and co, has found itself a new home at the Playhouse theatre, where it will be rock and rolling into action from 6 January 2010. Here’s a clip of highlights from their recent UK tour.

  • Brand new Soap Opera… - It’s that time of year again, and this Friday night, BBC Children in Need will takeover our screens providing hours of entertainment whilst raising much needed funds for their continued hard work. Not strictly within our remit, but as per usual, a myriad of top west end casts will be joining in the show and so if you haven’t organised your sponsored skydive, skipathon or cake sale, tune in on Friday to catch some brilliant musical treats including an exclusive performance from the cast of Legally Blonde as well as some surprisingly in tune treats from those lovely folk over in Albert Square…

  • Nation going down a storm! - On the south side of the river, audiences are flocking to the National Theatre’s Olivier auditorium to enjoy this year’s winter offering, Nation. Based on the best selling novel by Terry Pratchett and continuing in the Naitonal’s long running tradition of family shows at this time of year, Nation tells the story of two teenagers thrown together by a tsunami that has destroyed Mau’s village and left Daphne shipwrecked on his South Pacific island, thousands of miles from home. You can follow Elaine Claxton’s first video diary here as she meets the cast and gets started in rehearsals.

  • Everybody’s favourite Snowman - If you’ve had to suffer another D-list celeb or fast fading one time X Factor contestant switching on your local Christmas lights then the festive feeling probably isn’t with you…yet! But thankfully we have the perfect pick-me-up in the shape of a delightful teaser from the ever loveable The Snowman live show, returning to Birmingham Rep this Christmas. We all know the classic track that made the film so memorable and now the loveable story is brought to life in a heart warming winter treat that will no doubt bring a smile to even the most humbugged of Scrooges!

Tune into to next fortnight’s video picks for a round up of this year’s best panto offerings – liberal doses of ‘boo’ and indeed ‘hiss’ will of coursed be supplied, oh yes they will!
