Synopsis

Jerry Springer - The Opera underwent Scratch performances at BAC in the A Sharp Intake of Music season in May 01. Opera as never before with appearances from a Chick with a Dick counter-tenor, a diaper wearing baritone and mezzo members of the Klan, complete with Audience Psycho Choir. Jerry Springer - The Opera, is based on America's most lurid talk show and the US host who brought worldwide television audiences programmes entitled 'Pregnant by a Transsexual', 'Here Comes the Hookers' and 'I Refuse to Wear Clothes.' Note: Not suitable for children.

What’s left to be said about Jerry Springer - The Opera that I’ve not already said? And what more is there to see on an eighth viewing that I’ve not already seen? Only that it continues to thrill me anew each time – and proves that, far from a being a one-trick pony, this is a three-ring circus of imagination and discovery.

The cast has now substantially (but not entirely) changed since it premiered at the National 15 months ago. Director Stewart Lee and casting director Stephen Crockett (for David Grindrod Associates) faced a potentially serious problem when it came to re-casting this production. How do you improve on perfection? The simple answer is you can’t – but you can equal it.

I’m much relieved to report that this company is every bit the equal of their predecessors. That’s partly a testament to the wealth of idiosyncratic talent that has been miraculously found to assume the mantle of the original cast whose accomplishments included seein...

it is the best thing ever to hit the wast end. i do not know what everyone is going on about it is a bit offensive yes, but it is only acting, noone belives that jesus is gay. i bet half the people who have complaiend havent even seen it. i hope all the protesters realise that they are putting people out of jobs, and preventing others from having a good time and think it takes courage for those actors to stand up there and say those lines so why cant they respect them for it. so y dont all u protesters get a life and realise that it is only acting and nobody belives that jesus is gay . if god had thought it was too offensive he would have stoped it from being performed and broadcasted. to all you protester THANKS ALOTT FOR RUINING MY BIRTHDAY PRESESNT (SCARCASTIC BY THE WAY)(they were ticketc to go and see jerry springer the opera)and just so you all know it was the funniest thing i have ever seen and david bedella has an amazing voice...
