Synopsis

The plat is a domestic drama that revolves around the strained relationships in a Jewish family. The liberal-minded parents are shocked when their son becomes religious. But which views are more rigid: the staunchly non-secular ones or those of a new-found faith?

I saw this on the last night and, given what was happening in Lebanon, the politics still felt unnervingly fresh and up to the minute. As a secular jewish person I felt Mike Leigh was bringing an important, and as yet unheard, jewish voice to the stage. As well as that it was incredibly funny and beautifully well-observed. I wish I could see it again. ...
