Synopsis

With four strapping sons the Prospects are the hardest family on the Estate - and when Matthew the eldest becomes a Millwall reserve, their position as Old Kent Road royalty is assured - until Matthew comes out of a stint in rehab - and starts telling the truth - about everything - and everyone.

Set on a South East London council estate, Gutted follows the romantic lives of the Prospect brothers and their mother Bridie (Louise Jameson).

While newly signed footballer Matthew (James Farrar) struggles to come to terms with the sexual abuse that his late father subjected him to, Mark (Frankie Fitzgerald) starts his own family with a hot-tempered woman. While Luke (Jamie Nichols) is determined to fall in love with a pre-op transsexual, John (Gavin McCluskey) turns to Islam following a stint in prison. All the while, Bridie supports them, earning her sons’ continued respect and offers them a hearty helping of realism every time they make a poor decision.

Brave and bold, exploring issues we normally shy away from in a sharp theatrical form. The cast maintains their energy throughout and deliver great performances in challenging scenes. And underpinning the whole thing is a humanity that is characteristic of Beadle-Blair. And plenty of laughs keep us engaged and entertained and able to bear some of the pain and misery that the central family has gone through....
