Synopsis
Kurt Weill (1990-1950), Composer: Best-known music theatre pieces - The Threepenny Opera, Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, Lady in the Dark, One Touch of Venus, Street Scene, Lost in the Stars. Best-known songs: Mack the Knife, Surabaya Johnny, Alabama Song, Pirate Jenny, September Song, My Ship, Saga of Jenny, I’m a Stranger Here Myself, Sing Low. Weill established a world-wide reputation with his collaboration with Bertolt Brecht before fleeing the Nazis and eventually settling in America. This show charts that journey, with some of the catchiest and most biting songs in the music theatre canon.
