Synopsis

Audiences all around the world have been roaring with laughter since Monty Python's Spamalot, by Eric Idle and John Du Prez, won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2005.

Spamalot tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features a bevy (or possibly a brace) of beautiful show girls, witch burnings (Cancelled too expensive) not to mention cows, killer rabbits and French people. The show features the hilarious songs He Is Not Dead Yet, Knights of the Round Table, Find Your Grail and of course the Nation's Favourite Comedy Song (Reader's Digest Poll 2009) Always Look On the Bright Side of Life.

Kings of Comedy Marcus Brigstocke and Jon Culshaw share the starring role of King Arthur, alongside the irrepressible Bonnie Langford as the Lady of the Lake and TV legend Todd Carty as Patsy.

Don't miss your night with the Knights of The Round Table at the most infectiously funny musical of the millennium.

Our Review: starstar

Kieran Corcoran - 1 August 2012

When The Daily Star starts to applaud your sense of humour, you know something's gone wrong.

Although it left much of the audience unscathed, a ghostly suggestion seems to haunt Spamalot, which returns to the West End after a three year absence: perhaps Eric Idle's acclaimed and award-winning "lovingly ripped off" Python musical just isn't that funny anymore.

Turning off the lights to answer the question "why do they call them the Dark Ages?", reaching forward on mention of the Fourth Wall as if you might touch something, and, indeed, the entirety of "The Song That Goes Like This" seem to me childish regressions that do little to valorise the Python legacy.

Despite the University of Cambridge crest slapped somewhat mystifyingly on his chest, Marcus Brigstocke as Arthur says ...

Cassox - 9 August 2012: starstarstarstar

This is literally the cheapest most horrific am-dram production-value show. That said, the cast are brilliant. Understanding Miss Langford couldn't really have the vocal gymnastics of Miss Waddingham or Miss Ramirez is a massive strength. they play to hers and actually, it makes it better. Mracus Brigstock's good (not quite the singer, however still very funny), the ensemble are amazing..... but the thing is SOOOOOOOOO fucking cheap i had a huge difficultly getting over the price tag. It's like they're in a production to be filmed and sent to amateurs (with the set) so they can loveingly recreate it. I'm not sure where to place it (other than minus points for the TERRIBLE direction and set and use of space) but amazing performers who know what to do and how to make it work! (also the dialogue and song changes are really rather good)...
