Jane captured the hearts of millions of avid viewers with her professional voice and down to earth humour in the original documentary series "The Cruise". The BBC were so impressed that they produced a one hour documentary update on her newly launched career and recent wedding. Her debut album 'Jane McDonald - The Album' went to No 1 in the charts. In the more than 10 years since Jane McDonald first came to public recognition, captivating audiences with her Yorkshire charm on the BBC documentary series The Cruise (‘Return To The Cruise’) on BBC 2 for a week from August 8th), she has sold hundreds of thousands of albums, toured every inch of the country, earned herself a place in the Guinness Book of Records (for being the first artist to top the album charts without a prior release), performed for Royalty and also scooped Yorkshire Woman of the Year. She is also now a regular on ITV's Loose Women, her face familiar to millions, and is, in effect, nothing less than a national treasure. No small leap for someone who never even aimed to progress out of the northern cabaret circuit that she effortlessly dominated in her early years.
