Synopsis The ability of a single artist to captivate and hold an audience is one of the great performing traditions. The Flying Solo Festival celebrates this skill with a bold and diverse week of performances including edgy live art, Hip Hop theatre, comedy, spoken word, music and dance. Each year, new and emerging artists work with established performers to gain the experience and confidence to develop their own solo work, through masterclasses and workshop activity.
Closed by fire, May98, after refurbishment, re-opened autumn 1999. The Times describes it as "A theatre refurbished beyond recognition: buzzing, youth-packed, noisy spaces are connected by metal stairways, and within is a wide, twin-aisled auditorium".
