Synopsis

Charles Hawtrey was one of Britain’s best-loved comedy actors, famous for his many appearances in the Carry On films and for his unique physicality and distinctive voice. In this provocative, funny and moving show, Amanda Lawrence captures the spirit of Hawtrey, interweaving episodes from his life (as child star in Peter Pan, filming at Pinewood Studios and in his local on the Kent coast) with portrayals of the relationships that governed it to create an intimate exploration of a true English eccentric.

Saw this last night in Liverpool.I agree with the WOS review and Amanda is definately a talented actress but for me this funny and touching entertainment needed a bit more substance.I found the quick fire costume changes somewhat tedious after 90 minutes and would have loved to see a more robust script to flesh out the main character namely Charles Hawtrey. But that's just a personal preference. A very talented lady however and amazing how she takes on his persona....
