Synopsis

Joe Bonaparte is a talented musician from a poor family who turns his back on music, becomes a boxer and stakes everything on a shot at the title. For Tom Moddy - a boxing promoter who's seen better times - Joe is his one way ticket to the American Dream with his fiancée, Lorna Moon. But Lorna has fallen in love with Joe. Then there's the dangerous gunman, Eddie Fusilie, who will stop at nothing to make his fighter a king...But Joe also has a dream, he wants to one day return to music, however you cannot play the violin with broken hands and a boxer who's afraid to get his hands broken will never win the crown...Golden Boy is brought to life through the inimitable wise cracking dialogue of 1930s New York.
