Synopsis
Telling the incredible story of one of the pioneers of modern musical theatre, George M.Cohan Tonight! arrives at The New Players Theatre for a strictly limited four week run. Known in America as The Man Who Owned Broadway, Cohan was much more than your average entertainer. As a performer, producer, composer, director, and writer, he was responsible for penning over 50 shows and 500 songs. This award-winning musical biography is written by Chip Deffaa, a song-writer and jazz historian. Deffaa has written about jazz, cabaret and theatre in The New York Post for over eighteen years. George.M Cohan Tonight! is one of five shows he has written depicting the life and music of the theatrical legend. Featuring the songs: Hello Broadway, The Yankee Doodle Boy, Forty-five Minutes From Broadway, Over There (as featured in Oh! What a Lovely War), Life’s A Funny Proposition After All, Give My Regards to Broadway, and many more!

The New Players Theatre, done out in red velvet and harking back to a lost era of music hall, is the perfect setting for this old-school entertainment. George M Cohan Tonight! is a musical biography of an old Vaudevillian, all-American performer.
Born in 1878, Cohan went on to write more than 50 shows and 500 songs, including "Hello Broadway" and "The Yankee Doodle Boy". His family performed across America as 'The Four Cohans' before 'Georgie' found fame on Broadway.
In this one-man show, written by Chip Deffaa and directed by Bart Williams, David Herzog plays Cohan – punctuating his story with over 30 musical numbers. His energy is contagious and the fixed toothy smile that never leaves his face is straight out of the 1920s. Herzog is one hard working man. He can dance and sing and act. He treats the biography of Cohan with the fun, kindness and respect that is due. This musical play perfect for people who like a really good story, with not too much faff, and a lot of heart....
