Synopsis
Set between 1997 and 2007, Negative Space is a bold and challenging portrayal of a family dealing with the aftermath of the disappearance of their 11-year-old daughter, Callie. We join Callie’s family 10 years after she has disappeared. The narrative is driven by 17-year-old Samantha who is by now caught in the throes of a family breakdown and a sinister romantic relationship. Unable to live any longer defined by the negative space created by her sister's absence, Samantha has reached a dangerous moment of crisis. Through a series of fantasies born of each character’s imaginings, it slowly becomes clear that Callie’s identity is fluid and merely a construct, but it takes an outsider to help Samantha break free of its weight and shatter the silent prison of her family’s warped normality.
