Synopsis
The Scottish Play - theatrical types consider saying its name to be unlucky! Thrust into power by his overwhelming desires and an over ambitious wife, Macbeth finds his only security is to murder and murder again. From "When shall we three meet again" to "is this a dagger I see before me" this is a powerful Shakespearean drama.

The best production of this difficult play I've ever seen. Rupert Goold is a genius--every single moment of the play seems freshly rethought, without being the slightest big gimmicky. And it's not a star turn for Patrick Stewart: it's very strongly cast throughout. I can't imagine it will be as good in a proscenium theatre as it was in the Minerva studio--but anyone who can't see it in Chichester should definitely plan to catch it when it transfers....
