Synopsis
Rock guitarist. Steve grew up in Brooklyn, New York; he began playing the guitar at the age of fourteen and would constantly write and study music. He would analyse groups and guitarists such as John Lee Hooker, Led Zeppelin and Carlos Santana. A student at Berklee School of Music, he recalls many jam sessions with Joe Satriani. During the 1970s Steve played second guitar to Frank Zappa, when Zappa would introduce him as the 'Little Italian Virtusos'.Steve Vai uses Ibanez six string and seven string Universe guitars, designed and endorsed by himself.
