I agree wholeheartedly with your first reviewer. While this was the first performance I have seen of this play I found it masterful. What a gloriously comic, life-affirming production by Gregory Doran, surely in the frontrunner stakes to take over from Noble. Deftly updated to the 1930s and Fascist times, without this being otiose, the staging is magnificent, the ensemble playing superb with superlative performances from nicholas le Provost as Benedick and Harriet Walters as Beatrice. The character Dogberry is also wonderful. The whole evening if richly nuanced added by fine musical performances. A must-see. ...
