Synopsis
When psychoanalyst Dr Prentice instructs his new secretary to undress, little does he expect to be interrupted by his wife, her blackmailing lover, a meddling government inspector and an inquisitive policeman. But hiding a naked woman is the least of his worries, as libidos run riot, identities are swapped and social decorum is buried.

This production, which could hardly be bettered, confirms this play as an important milestone in theatre. It still surprises and shocks, but in a different way ('how cheeky?' rather than 'how dare you?'). The performances are uniformly excellent. The setting perfectly captures the period and it sits so well on the Hampstead stage. Above all, it is so nice to be having such fun at Hampstead again !...
