The Eurovision Song Contest is one of those must-see Saturday evenings on the television calendar. The voting is dubious, the songs are mainly awful and the costumes usually represent a country so stereotypically, that you usually die laughing as you quaff your pizza and pass round your pineapple and cheese sticks.

Thank heavens for Terry Wogan, your sardonic host who guides you through the good, the bad and the downright ugly. But now you can also thank Craig Christie & Andrew Patterson, the writers of the hilarious new spoof musical, Eurobeat for capturing the sheer lunacy of this crazy competition.

Definitely the type of show to watch after 2 or 3 pints of strong (European) lager. But it makes a change from 'The Sound of Music', I suppose. So, don't be under any illusions that you're going to something that will be remembered in years to come - it's an average Eurovision spoof with no narrative: just a mickey-take of something which already does a very good job of parodying itself already. Personally, I find the real Eurovision, along with Terry Wogan's commentary, a lot funnier. And it's a lot cheaper. ...
