Synopsis
The story of the von Trapp family and their escape from Nazi occupation. Made famous by the film starring Julie Andrews and containing such songs as Climb Every Mountain, I am Sixteen, Do a Deer and many more.

The success of this production is steeped in its recognizable tunes and the touching plight of the Von Trapp family which has firmly become embodied in the fabric of popular culture for many generations, and is sure to do so for many more to come.
Whilst the order of the songs may differ from the admired movie incarnation and slight differences to the narrative occur, they do on the whole aid the performance in its transition on to the stage whilst maintaining the essence of the adored film franchise.
Connie Fisher, winner of Andrew Lloyd Webber's TV talent show, is also a fine reflection of the likeability and warmth that Julie Andrews brought to the role of Maria. Fisher proves to be witty and smart whilst building a believable relationship with both the children and head of the house, Captain Von Trapp.
Where Connie Fisher seemed to struggle was with her vocal performance; much of her singing was limited and seemed to be stunted by any high or long notes. Whet...

Acting was absolutely amateurish,music and songs, generally were good, apart from the new numbers - which really seemed a bit 'forced in' to accomodatea couple of roles. Overall disappointing, we did not like the changes of order over some numbers and we thought that some connecting points were missed out. ...
