Synopsis

London’s longest running revival, Chicago the Musical opened in London in November 1997 and played at the Adelphi Theatre for 9 years until transferring to the Cambridge Theatre in April 2006 and now to the Garrick Theatre.

Bob Fosse choreographed the original production and his style is strongly identified with the show. The 1996 Chicago Broadway revival also holds the record for the longest-running musical revival.

Chicago the Musical is the kiss-and-tell story of ambitious chorus girl Roxie Hart who is in prison for murdering her lover and trying to pin it on her hapless husband Amos. Here she meets Velma Kelly, the glamorous double-murderer. Desperate for fame, fortune and freedom, the women enlist the help of slick and manipulative lawyer Billy Flynn. Both women will be hanged for their crimes if they lose their cases and are prepared to go to any lengths to escape execution.

Chicago the MusicalVery topical in our celebrity-seeking times, Chicago in London also provides some of the most sensational roles in all musical theatre with songs including All That Jazz, Razzle Dazzle, Class and All I Care About.

Like Chicago Broadway, Chicago London has included many international celebrities and actors in the starring roles including [Tina Arena, John Barrowman, Jennifer Ellison, Maria Friedman, Tony Hadley, Jill Halfpenny, David Hasselhoff, Ruthie Henshall , Bonnie Langford, Ute Lemper, Marti Pellow, Brooke Shields, Ashlee Simpson, Jerry Springer, Claire Sweeney, Denise Van Outen, Sally Ann Triplett, Michelle Williams and Jonathan Wilkes.
