First things first: Jonathan Fensom's set for Little Shop of Horrors is, in every sense, terrific. As you walk into the larger of the West Yorkshire Playhouse's two auditoria, it towers massively to dominate everything, a brilliantly detailed evocation of Skid Row all the way up to the metro rail bridge, which is the only real sky to the bums below. Set - fantasic! Everything else was pants! A really really big let down! I went their with high expectations being that there hasn't been a production of this show for a while! I really wanted to like this but couldn't. Credit to the actors though - they made the most of a tired script and you can't fault the plant! However, the band was way too loud and I really couldn't hear what was being sung! Don't really know what to say! Disappointing!...
