Synopsis
Susan Chester s life in Hampshire was certainly not dull!!! Her best friend, Elaine Sweetham s husband Donald just ran off with that trollop who runs the betting shop in Basingstoke, and then Elaine ran off with a Buddhist guru to find nirvana in BAYSWATER! But Susan was far too busy rehearsing for her starring role in The Killing of Sister George to think much about that right now. Then her son Simon committed a crime that shook the world. Come and meet unsuspecting Susan.

A theatrical miniature with maximum impact, Unsuspecting Susan is a spare and affecting one-woman play by Stewart Permutt that begins on a familiar enough path but ends up taking a detour to a far more disturbing place.

A wonderful performance from Celia Imriein this funny and dark monologueby Stewart Permutt. The first half wittily and affectionately takes us through a slice of middle England, producing real beely laughs from the audience. Permutt then turns a sombre and controversialcorner. however we get no political judgements or rhetoric, just an unbeleivable "It cant possibly happen to me" situation thrown at a real woman living in her cocooned and ordered world, wrecking so many lives. Beautifully acted, cleverly directed by Lisa Forrell and written with a touch of genius. And you can be back in the pub in 80 minutes. Perfect....
