     | Last Saturday I was witness of a very inspiring theatre experience. From the beginning to the end I was hooked on what happened on the stage. I truly can recommend this play. - 193.173.111.185) | 09 Nov 04 |
     | I took a gamble and went to see We Could Be Heroes. Richard Lumsden's performance blew me away. What an incredibly talented man. His subtle sensitivity and insight into human nature was expressed throughout the show in his singing and acting. If mr. Lumsden's object was to emotionally connect with his audience, I for one was tenderly touched. An extraordinary experience. - 213.218.65.17) | 08 Nov 04 |
     | Fantastic show with music, impeccably performed and written by Richard Lumsden, it charts a nameless musicians journey through his life to his longed for musical fame!!
As soon as you enter the venue, the atmosphere is that of a music festival you can almost taste the narcotics and smell the grass!!!!!
Audrey Nugent sings soulfully as you buy your bottled lager at the stall next to the stage and the auditorium is dark and hazy as you make your way to your seat. As soon as Lmsden enters at the top of the show, you know this is going to be an hilarious journey as he traverses through the characters life from schoolboy to struggling musician to a forty something father singing his child to sleep.
Lumsden has composed all the music each song eloquently painting an era and influence on the songwriters imagination He walks in the shoes of such icons as Bowie and Dylan and longs to dance Oranges and Lemons with his childhood sweetheart Natalie!!!!
Lumsden is such a versatile performer that he switches effortless from guitar to harmonica to keyboard and it is with the latter that he performs as a restaurant pianist to earn money with the extremely funny take on Jazz that it brings tears to your eyes.
At the end he transforms himself into his Idol and dons Ziggy makeup and costume whilst wowing the audience with the most amazing Bowie-esk number that the applause is none less than rapturous.
Highly recommended for all you dreamers as it is inspiring, energised and truly entertaining. This is one not to be missed.
