Synopsis The Eurovision Barbershop Contest is approaching. Our manly quartet fancy their chances, until their lead tenor does a runner. He must be replaced and fast, but when the only option is an operatic warbling woman... what will our heroes do? Putting a diva among the dapper dans has varied and colourful consequences. Will three guys and a girl make it to Ljubljana in one piece, let alone triumph at this prestigious international event? Barbershopera is an a cappella musical in four-part harmony. Expect laughs, tears, false beards and enormous vibratos.
I can't believe I'm the first to write a review of this terrifically imaginative and very funny show delivered with real gusto by this hugely talented cast of only four, three guys and one girl. I went with a couple of friends last Thursday, my first visit to The Latchmere, and got swept away with the sheer enthusiasm of it all. The audience were great too, cheering the cast along. And it seemed to me what a very "Off Broadway" type of show this was. It would be great if it could transfer in London, when the run ends and even, but given a few tweaks I reckon it could even get a run in NYC. It really does deserves to be seen by a wider audience. 10/10. - rds
