What an evening. I didn't know when to laugh, when to cry. At first I thought it was a comedy. A batty old woman (Helen) living on an island is joined by a character from Desperate Housewives (Penelope) who tries to turn the place into suburban heaven but then Klytemnestra arrives and recreates the moment when she drowned her husband and all sorts of primitive emotions were unleashed. There were so many aspects to these women's lives - love and hate, grief and laughter, lost sons and husbands, wounds that would never heal - all leading to a moment when they could accept themselves and take life on again. And what was really nice was that it wasn't a rant against the men. I came away thinking about my own life.
