Synopsis The magical pantomime including Prince Charming, Buttons, the Ugly Sisters and, of course, the Fairy Godmother who turns a pumpkin and mice into a carriage and horses ... but why doesn't the glass slipper disappear at midnight?!
Tired, with a variable cast and assorted production problems. Mediocre writing, orchestra drowns out lyrics and supporting chorus. Gareth Gates's acting performance is wooden, stiff, with bad miking -- many of his lines un-hearable. Joanna Page shines despite a "ball gown" apparently obtained from an ASDA seconds rack. Good-to-strong performances from McGowan, Lucas, Hoadly & Ryan, Thornton, and Dearman. Someone, please, get Gates an acting coach. Overall this production needs some serious work. Sadly, not currently (as of 07/12/08) not worth the price of the ticket. - Denis
