Synopsis Beautifully lyrical and poetic, Fletcher's work shows him at the height of his dramatic power in this thrilling adventure. Partly based on true events, five men compete for the hand of Princess Quisara on the Indonesian island of Tidore. She vows to marry the man who can free her brother, who has been imprisoned by the villainous governor of Ternata. But she soon faces a conflict of faith and terrible moral dilemma as her idealism and beliefs are challenged beyond her expectations.
A fascinating glimpse of 17th century colonialism and the cast give it everything they've got. I've seen the lovely Sasha Behar before in small parts (most recently as Helen in "Troilus and Cressida"), but she is sensational as Quisara. - USER: Whatsonstage.com

The RSC notch up another winning production this season with this play. Finely staged and directed, the cast are excellent, particularly David Rintoul, a much-better actor than Edward III showed him to be. The comedy is ably done and Sasha Behar as the princess and Shelley Conn as her waiting woman are both able and gorgeous. An immensely entertaining evening. - USER: Whatsonstage.com
