Set in the Latin Quarter of Paris the course of their love is constantly threatened by Rodolfo's jealousy and Mimi's illness. The painter Marcello and the provocative Musetta are the other main characters. This is where 'your tiny hand is frozen' comes from and the last few bars, as Rodolfo realises Mimi is dead, are some of opera's most moving moments. As the entire floor of the Royal Albert Hall is transformed into 1940s Paris, this 'in the round' production of Puccini's La Bohème will draw you into the action that unfolds before you. Directed by Francesca Zambello, the captivating romance and heartfelt tragedy of this opera are brought to life in every detail; from the rapturous grand celebrations of the Café Momus to the tender intimacy of the artisan's garret.
