Synopsis
Miles Coombes unhappy marriage to Rowena is equalled only by Celia Teasdale s unsatisfactory union with Toby. Both of them feel unwanted, unappreciated and neglected. Indeed, they feel they have enough in common, this glumly mismatched couple, to embark on an extra-marital adventure which they hope will lead to romance and happiness - besides teaching their respective partners a sharp lesson into the bargain. But as far as Miles is concerned, what is the point of having a secret affair when everyone in the village knows about it and his wife Rowena doesn t appear to be in the least bit jealous? Indeed she actively encourages it? And as for Celia, there are dangers in carrying on with your husband Toby s best friend, particularly when they re both members of the same cricket team. After all, it s so easy for a ‘friendly match to get out of hand...
