Concluding the 2013 season is the Tony Award-winning THE SOUND OF MUSIC, marking the first time that a work collaboratively written by lyricists Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II will be staged at the Regent Open Air Theatre. Come on our Whatsonstage.com Club Group Night on 29 July 2013 with top-price tickets to Club members only at the reduced group rate of £37.50. ABOUT THE SHOW: With a timeless score which includes "Do-Re-Mi", "Climb Ev’ry Mountain", "My Favourite Things", "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and "Edelweiss", this much-loved musical tells the story of Maria, a free-spirited trainee nun who leaves the nunnery to become governess for the seven children of a veteran navy captain. THE SOUND OF MUSIC premiered on Broadway in 1959, when it won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It went on to open in London in 1961 and by 1965 was made into the much-loved film with Julie Andrews. Its last London stage revival was in 2006 when it starred Connie Fisher as Maria. Rachel Kavanaugh expands her directing resume at the Regent Open Air Theatre with this production assisted by choreographer Alistair David and Olivier Award-winning set and costume designer Peter McKintosh. *** Please note this is NOT a hosted event.
