The Show:
Rising film star Mitchell Green is every girl's fantasy and soon to become a household name, thanks to his devilish agent Diane, who excels at navigating the choppy waters of Hollywood. There’s just one teensy weensy obstacle to Mitchell’s impending superstardom- Diane can't seem to stop her leading man from coming out of the closet. With Mitchell spending days and nights with his new 'friend' Alex, and Ellen, Alex's beautiful girlfriend (yes girlfriend!), causing a drama of her own, what lengths will Mitchell go to play the part? And will there be a Hollywood ending when the credits role?
“Devastatingly funny, with dizzy, irresistible writing” - New York Times
Douglas Carter Beane's Tony Award-nominated comedy THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED hilariously satirises the superficial world of showbusiness and the game-playing of the movie industry.
The UK premiere boasts a stellar cast: Rupert Friend (The Young Victoria, Pride and Prejudice) as Mitchell, Tamsin Greig (God of Carnage, All’s Well That Ends Well, Gethsemane on stage, TV’s Green Wing) as Diane, Harry Lloyd (A View from the Bridge) as Alex and Gemma Arterton (Tess of the D’Urbervilles, Quantom of Solace) as Ellen.
THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED opened Off-Broadway in January 2006 before transferring to Broadway later that year. The title refers to a short story written by the fictional character Arturo Bandini in John Fante’s 1930s Los Angeles-set novel Ask the Dust. The UK premiere is directed by Jamie Lloyd, an associate director at the Donmar Warehouse whose other West End credits include Three Days of Rain, Piaf and the Pinter double bill of The Lover and The Collection.
