Loved this when I thought I might not! The stage was minimal but effective. Sound and lighting created an eerie, scary world! The acting from both performers had me on the edge of my seat! Storytelling at it's finest! - Anthony D

I saw this in Worthing Tuesday 20 September and wasn't sure what to expect only having watched the film years ago. It was a brilliant play and I thought Mark and Nick were both excellent. The use of sound effects and lighting added to the performance and I really felt I was in the dungeon with them. I went home feeling quite unsettled - which proves how good it was! - Ali Cobby

Saw this on Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great atmosphere and tension. Really impressive performances too. Pete (previous comments)sounds like he was busy being critical of the sound effects and not listening to the heart wrenching story of someone's life caving in around them. Heart crushing! I agree with what the professional reviwer says, and think its well worthy of the 4 stars. Perhaps Mr Largman was meant to go next door to see a film where the dolby stereo sound and the C.G.I would be more to his taste. That said, the set did creak a bit !! - Angela Harris

wow! This gentleman was obviously at a different performance to me.
Firstly, the sound was terrible - a childlike attempt to convey atmosphere through effects. The most risible was the scene with the rats which sounded like a thousand squeaky toys. The lighting was rudimentary rather than minimal, and the stage set was noisy - it thumped every time the actors moved. Hardly a stone dungeon.
The reviewer is simply wrong about the hellfire club, too.
Nicholas Briggs was impressive, but Mark Homer overacted astonishingly.
The audience was hardly rapturous, more relieved when it had ended.
Truly, a highly misleading review.
