starstarstarstarstarWent to see this last night. Must admit that I was sceptical, but thought it was absolutely brilliant! Yes, it is your typical 'toilet humour' but was really enjoyable! At the end of the day, it's an adult panto - just enjoy it for what it is! McGuiness and Wilkes were great as were the rest of the cast - hope they do one next year. - Caroline23 Nov 10
starstarBefore I start I would by no means describe myself as a "theatre lovie" as I enjoy all types of theatre and have indeed seen a number of adult pantos and enjoyed them. I was not so lucky with this production, although the cast and production themselves were perfectly adequate and the cast were definitely having a good time, I felt the script was not up to the standard of other shows of this type. Previous shows made by the likes of Jim Davidson and Mike Reid were written by comics and this shone through with genuinely funny gags, this production seemed to have to rely on throwing a swear word onto the end of an unfunny line to raise a laugh from the audience, which it did, however this kind of humour is not to my taste and to me shows a weak script. There also seemed to be a lot of reliance on insulting particular groups of society, namely the gay community even going so far as to have offensive placards on stage. Obviously you expect some kind of offense at a show like this but it really should have been directed across all areas of society to be fair and balanced. In short, this is my own opinion which obviously differs from other people, this was not to my taste comedy wise but I can also see the shortfalls in the creative process as well when compared to similar shows. A personal view is just that and people should not be insulted for airing their opinions. - James18 Nov 10
starstarstarThere is really no need to attack the poor reviewer! He is only doing his job, giving his opinion, just like you all are! Myself, I have to agree with him, the whole aura of the show kind of felt like it was tailored for the drunk and/or chavs. I appreciate that everyone's got to have a laugh sometimes, but this was just a bit too desperate to be funny for me. - Sarah18 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarAbsolutely loved it!! The cast were brilliant, Wilkes and McGuiness clearly enjoying themselves with no doubt impromptu comments thrown in. Well worth seeing in my opinion! Shame Robbie wasn't there again! - Nicola Briggs18 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarthis was a supberb show with Paddy Mcguiness and Jonathon Wilkes playing themselves. They do not need any two bob reviewer slating them and if that's what you thought of the show, you may have felt better if you had smiled instead of scowling all through it - Helen 17 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarTotally diagree with this review! The show is brilliant! So funny and entertaining and a really fun night out. Don't forget folks, this review is just one (dull) persons opinion and as you can see by all the comments it is well worth a look! - Mike Potter17 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarI totally disagree with the write up! me and my boyfriend went for his birthday and we were sat in the front row. Brilliant script very funny throughout, my stomach was hurting at one point( the most offence song ever). Excellent night made better with Robbie singing his most iconic song =) 5 out of 5 EXCELLENT - Lucy17 Nov 10
starYes, very true about the tired old swearing filling this tired panto. It was such a squirmingly bad and lazy script where the cast and audience deserved far better. Next. - Sol17 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarWonderful evening, Wilkes and McGuiness had a blast playing themselves and Eric Potts was superb as the Dame. The audience was on their feet throughout singing along and catcalling with abandon. The enthusiam of the leads was infectious with good turns from the supporting cast leading to a genuine sense of fun and excitement in the stalls. Best panto i've been to in a decade! - Phil 17 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarI had an absolute ball! - laughed/snorted all the way thru - best night out for a very long time. If you would like to take your brain out, forget the crap and just have fun - off you go! - Sue Catling17 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarI totally agree with Gareth, we also had a fantastic night and was a great release from everyday stresses. From what I could see and hear the whole audience seemed thoroughly entertained. Unfortunately this kinda show will never impress the theatre "lovies"!! - Nick17 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarDisagree with the writeup given here. Had a fantastic evening, thought Paddy was better than his usual self and Jonathon Wilkes was very enjoyable. Just a simple silly panto, full of daft jokes and innuendo's. Just what we all need at this depressing time of year!!! - Gareth Jones17 Nov 10
