starDon't bother going its Three hours better spent doing practically anything else the worse show ever to pay in Toronto. terrible sound. very difficult to follow thanks to actors diction, awful acting and the worse dance routines you can imagine _ So bad people walk out! AVOID - William Roberts 22 Oct 11
starstarstarstarFinally a solid production for a really wonderful and underrated score. Daniel Koek shone as Anatoly. I loved what Horwood did with the actor/musicians, Some of the the choreography was a little on the nose, however, I am hoping for a West End run to really give this show the platform it deserves! - Chloe20 Feb 11
starSorry I am odds with this review, Yes Daniel Koek was way above the other lead cast member, but the rest failed to deliver, no diction, no dynamic and no passion. James Fox was utterly useless as was Shona White(screaming banshee) Poppy Tierney failed to deliver as did the totally ineffective Arbiter played by David Erik, James Graeme was off target too. They totally failed this very complex and difficult musical through their lack of singing ability and failure to deliver emotion. The costumes were stunning for the various chess pieces and indeed the impact was visually tremendous. Anyone who has seen the original performance of Chess or indeed Live in Concert at the Albert Hall will be left wondering what this confusing messy show is all about. For me it's fail fail fail!!! - Martin Dejams21 Nov 10
