starstarstarstarPeter Rivendell below has absolutely nailed it. Anthony Middleton was so magnetic and elegant! And Davin King has a beautifully free neck and lovely use of arms. Matt Rees has a special quality too, hard to pinpoint what it is. He and Anthony Middleton stood out for me. I sat right at the front at Bath Theatre Royal and barely heard a single footfall, so light on their feet were they all. - Lottie22 Mar 10
starstarstarstarFirst piece B_Banned was awful: contrived, disjointed and phony. Second piece Alpha made up for it. Set to achingly lovely songs by Keaton Henson, Alpha was dark, fluid, mysterious and sensually masculine, making lovely use of one of the beauties of male-to-male dancing - the extraordinary lifts that are possible. Third piece Torsion was a reworking by Russell Maliphant of his classic Balletboyz duet for this larger group of dancers. Characterised by exquisite lighting, Torsion again demonstrated the breadth of talent within this new young group and the extraordinary power, strength, tenderness and expressiveness possible when men dance together. After a shaky start, yes The Talent have plenty. Standout performances: Anthony Middleton - a star in the making, strong, elegant and expressive; Davin King for his central performance in Torsion; and Matthew Rees, short, tattooed, sexy, strong and incredibly watchable - especially when partnered with Anthony Middleton. It will be interesting to see where Michael Nunn and Billy Trevitt take this new project. - Peter Rivendell09 Mar 10
